DVCPRO HD 720p50 playback

DVCPRO HD 720p50 playback

I'm having problems when trying to show a DVCPRO HD 720p50 sequence on my SD monitor.

I'm using FCP 5.1.4 and a Kona 3.

I've got the video playback on AJA Kona 720p50 in FCP, with the down conversion in the kona control panel to 625i25. I get a still picture, but not realtime playback.

If I set the playback to AJA Kona DVCPRO HD 720p25 My monitor flickers like crazy, but does do real time playback! I don't seem to have a setting for 720p50 which would match the sequence settings.

So any ideas? Am I doing something incredibly stupid and simple to fix? Would FCP 6 fix everything? (Only problem is this ain't my set up and I can't go round installing new programs as I want!)
