New Kona 3 v5 Software Woes

New Kona 3 v5 Software Woes

I have not been able to successfully run the latest Kona 3 software version 5. I've run the AJA uninstaller, restarted, ran the v5 installer, restarted, trashed preferences (although this is done automatically during install), launched FCP, and chose a Kona setup in the presets dialog box, and then BAM! FCP disappears with no "Unexpectedly Quit" box. If I choose a plain DV setting at first, and then choose a Kona setup after FCP startup, I am able to work for a bit before the inevitable crash. I know this is offered as a Leopard update, but AJA says it should work with Tiger. I've since gone back to v4, and have been good to go, but I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

Mac Pro
Quad Core 2.66 GHz
12 GBs of RAM
Quicktime 7.3.1
FCP v 6.0.2

David,

I was told by AJA not to upgrade to 5.0 if you are running 10.4.1.1. v5.0 of the drivers is really for Leopard.

Warren,

That was what I suspected, but still the website claims Tiger compatibility for v5, and thus the confusion. Version 4 is still a happy place, so no lost sleep here.

Thanks again,

David

Hmm. After uninstalling. Did you have any Kona presets left over? Even custom ones?

ALso, after uninstalling go in to your library receipts and trash anything to do with AJA or KOna. Restart. Then run the installer again.

Apparently there's been a mistake somewhere. I just spoke with AJA and v5 of the drivers are most definitely Tiger compatible.

Jeremy
