Master/print to Sony UVW 1800 through Kona LHe
by adam@dga on Jul 2, 2007 at 5:34:09 pm

I have a Macpro and using FCP 5.1.4
I need to make a master aka print TODAY. I have rented the Beta Deck Sony UVW1800. I am going out analogue audio, works great. I cannot get any picture though. I am new to the kona breakout, but I have tried every component config. I could think of and I just cannot get picture. I laid a bunch of tests to tape, always black. is anyone familiar with how I configure my bnc's/control panel to get picture?

Desperately open to suggestions....
Adam

Be sure you have YUV Selected on the front of the UVW-1800 for input.

Also make sure you have the correct input selected on the back of the deck. There are two component inputs back there, one for a Camera connection and one for the standard BNC component connections with a toggle switch.

Also make sure you are running the most current drivers for FCP 5.14 that would be v 3.4

your error makes it sound like operator error so double check everything.

My usual pre-amble: Dumb question, but are you outputting via Print to Video or Edit to Tape, or playing off the timeline [a no-no]? Avid editors can't get used to NOT being able to output from the timeline in FCP, but that's another subject.

Also, your Control Panel has the correct signal going out to the component line too, I presume.
