the absolute cheapest very good quality HD (only) monitoring is the Dell 2407WFP (about $700) - you use the analog HD Y Pb Pr signal from your Kona to feed the RCA inputs of this monitor - it works just fine. You aint' gonna get 1920 x1200 resolution HD monitoring for cheaper that this.

A note about the Panny 2600: bought one and within 6 months I had the strangest problem. Somehow, some dust got inside the monitor and attached itself to the interior of the front plastic panel, completely inaccessible to cleaning. It looked like a big blotch of schmutz.
We brought the monitor to Secaucus, NJ Panasonic service center and they were a bit dumbfounded. They asked if we were bakery or a construction company. Uh, no. We're an editing company. They fixed it for free and said they would make a redesign recommendation.

On DVX user I read a post by Shane Ross about monitoring with the Apple cinema displays. Is anyone doing this? I had a look at the monitors and they certainly have the resolution and image but I'm not sure how you would connect the LHe to the DVI input on the cinema display.

[pom_boarder]"how you would connect the LHe to the DVI input on the cinema display.
" You can get an AJA HDP converter box.
It takes SDI from your LH and adds scalling options, RCA audio out, and a DVI output for the Cinema HD.
