SEEKING A SOLUTION FOR UNCOMPRESSED HD MPEG 2 ENCODING....

Hello,
I have a client who is looking for a solution to take his D-5 and HDCAM footage and encode it to an uncompressed, constant-bit-rate 4:4:4 HD MPEG-2 transport stream for internet broadcast....
I understand that getting this footage into a Mac or PC will require a very fast disk array and a capture card that supports uncompressed HD (such as the Kona 2)...
My question is, once I have the footage in the computer, what program do I need to use to create the uncompressed 4:4:4 HD MPEG-2 transport stream???
I was thinking of Compressor, but it doesn't seem that it supports constant bit rate encoding...
I have also looked at some hardware HD MPEG-2 Encoder solutions, but I cannot find anything under $20K...
ANY suggestions that ANYONE might have would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Brian,
We are working to incorporate some encoders with our current clients but nothing out of BETA yet. The 4:4:4 ingest/playback is a solid solution(was used for 1/3 of Sin City) and also used for Shark Boy and Lava Girl, both done entirely in a 4:4:4 workflow.
Honestly you will be very hard pressed to find a professional proven 4:4:4 solution that can also handle the encode for under 20k.

I'm a little confused by you referring to an uncompressed MPEG file...since MPEG 2 is a compression format, so I may be barking up the wrong tree with this bit of advice. The only OS X software I have found which will do MPEG 2 compression on HD footage is FFMPEGX ( http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ ). It's not the most user friendly piece of software, and you will need to install a few other bits and pieces to get it working, but it does the job.

I'm understanding that his client wants to take uncompressed 4:4:4 and convert it to an HD MPEG stream for the internet. We are currently working on taking our current RaveHD package and adding in 4:2:0 support which is what the encoders that our clients use need. Not sure what's available on the OSX side, our app is entirely Linux.
Brian, please correct me if I have misunderstood your post.

Your client is confused.
As the previous poster stated, an MPEG2 encoded file is compressed, so the request is ambiguous.
Secondly, if the intent is to have HD footage on the internet for a user to play through a browser and a conventional broadband connection, there is no way in hell that an HD stream will be able to play. Dwnload perhaps, but not stream.
You can, however, encode the footage using an excellent software codec like what is used for widescreen movie trailers. Here's a link to QT's h.264 codec:
Show these to your client and then determine if your/your cleint's server bandwidth is capable of streaming this codec in one form or another. It is, from my knowledge [which is not the world's foremost], the eaasiest solutions for your situation outside of blowing $20 on a harware encoder.
