Hooking up Kona LS with UVW-1800 Betacam
by Tim Allison on Jun 14, 2005 at 9:29:06 pm

The back of my UVW has three component inputs:

Y
R-Y
B-Y

Meanwhile, the Kona cables are labeled:

Y/CVBS
Pb/Y
Pr/C

I can figure out the "in" and the "out" part. :) Anyone care to share which of those other connections match up to each other?

Y == Y/CVBS
R-Y == PR
B-Y == PB

Y is luminance. When the Kona output is changed to composite, Y is switched to CVBS.
R-Y is "Red minus Y" which is basicly the same as "Plus Red" or PR.
B-Y is "Blue minus Y or Plus Blue.

Y, PB, PR
A version of (Y, R-Y, B-Y) specified for the SMPTE analog component standard.
Y, R-Y, B-Y
The general set of CAV signals used in the PAL system as well as for some encoder and most decoder applications in NTSC systems. Y is the luminance signal, R-Y is the 1st color difference signal, and B-Y is the 2nd color difference signal.
Y, U, V
Luminance and color difference components for PAL systems. Y, U, and V are simply new names for Y, R-Y, and B-Y; the derivation from RGB is identical.
