Igniter Card/Driver No Longer Seen in OS X

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled OS 9.2.2 so that I could continue to use my Igniter capture card. I also installed the last known driver for it, 4.7.4. It works fine if I boot up in OS 9, but when I look for it in OS X (10.1, 10.3 or 10.4), it's gone. When I try opening Classic in OS X, I get an Aurora error message saying it cannot see the hardware or driver for the Igniter. If I try opening Ignition from the Prefpane, it says "The kernel extension igniter.kext did not load!" Prior to the reformat, I was at 10.4.11 and everything worked well. Is there something I'm forgetting to do or upgrade that will allow OS X to see the card?

David, thanks for responding.. but I'm not sure I understand. The Igniter worked perfectly under OS X before using the same 4.7.4 driver that I reinstalled. And if that's not the correct driver, any ideas on where it's hiding? All I have is the original install disc and the downloaded 4.7.4 from Aurora's website.

I can't really say. I might guess that the QuickTIme is no loner compatible with that version of the driver, which is about three or four years old now.

Except that I've only reinstalled the QT versions from that time.. not to mention that it worked prior to the reformat using the latest QT. I have to admit I'm baffled! This morning, I tried all over again.. reinstalled original software, then FCP 3.0, then the Igniter, then the latest driver (4.7.4) and it worked flawlessly in FCP. Installed OS X 3.0 and, of course, no sign of the hardware or driver. There must be something else I've forgotten to install... Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Mystery solved. I downloaded and installed the IgniterX driver 6.4, which I understood to work only for IgniterX cards.. cards that came to market a full year after my base Igniter card was installed. Voila! Thanks for your help!
