FYI. Leopard and Pipe Studio don't mix

I upgraded all the way to 10.4.11 and the latest quicktime and
everything still worked. (this on a G5). This is my offline machine
now that we've put in a new workstation with a Mac Pro and
AJA KONA3, Leopard and a new, original copy of FCS2, btw.
So on the old setup I thought I'd try bringing it up to Leopard.
I made a backup of the old OS then did the upgrade.
Turns out Aurora does not see it's Pipe Studio card or connection anymore.
EOL for anyone going to Leopard.... unless I did something wrong.
This was not a huge surprise. Don't someone chirp up with
"you can't expect" type of response. I knew this was probably
going to happen. I just posted for the info of anyone interested.

Thanks Dan. I'm running os 10.4.10 with QT 7.1.6 with the Pipe and FCS 2 and everything is OK. Do you know if if you lost the interceptor function with QT 7.2 or 7.3?

We have the latest QT running the latest Tiger updates and FCP 6.0.2. Everything works including interceptor. Man I wish the Kona card would implement the interceptor. clients thing that is such a cool feature!
I pretty much knew Tiger would be the end of the road. I'm kind of surprised we have gone as far as we have with the updates, but we are on all Dual 2.7 G5s.
Re: FYI. Leopard and Pipe Studio don't mix. NOT SO FAST !! by Dan Riley on Jan 9, 2008 at 7:07:51 pm
Well, I don't know exactly what I did to make it work, but I did get it to work today.
It could be some Leopard updates or FCS updates. I didn't do those all at the
same time. Or it could be the 5.0.2 Aurora driver (previously I had 5.0.0 installed)
that made it work. But the bottom line is, Aurora Pipe Studio IS working on a
G5 dual 2.5 gig, 4 Gig memory, Leopard 10.5.1, Quicktime 7.3.1, Final Cut 6.0.2,
Burly box 1.6gig 4 drive RAID with Sonnet 4+4 card (PCI-X).
So for now it will make a nice fixer box for our old SD shows that need changes.
Re: FYI. Leopard and Pipe Studio don't mix. How about Fuse X? by Jim Longo on Feb 5, 2008 at 6:25:44 pm
If anyone has any information about Leopard and FuseX I'd be interested to hear it.
My assumption has been that it wouldn't work . . . but your post has given me hope. IT is all working fine with 10.4.11/QT7.4 so perhaps it's not so out of the question that it will continue working in Leopard.
The last problem I had with Interceptor not working (with QT7.2) was fixed with subsequent QT updates.
