Igniter's last stand (at Little Big Horn?)

Well I may be at the end of the igniter road here, but here goes.
About 2 months ago I lost my logic board on a dual 800 G4 to a system failure caused by what I THOUGHT was a bad video card. Since this G4 has been the mainstay of my aurora igniter X with component BOB, I decided to hunt for another G4 dual 800, keep the same OS, Quicktime version, etc., to keep the aurora igniter alive.
I eventually found a duplicate machine and transferred all my PCI cards, igniter and hard drives included, into the clone. Plugged it all in and fired it up. Right away the motherboard battery went dead. More about that in a minute. However my Igniter seemed to work fine in FCP 4.5. Flash forward about 6 weeks.
Last night I booted up and suffered a similar kernal panic that killed my original G4. A bunch of unix code across the grey screen. I immediately powered down and started unplugging everything- including a 22 inch cinema display that is powered by the Apple ADC connector. Went to Goodwill and bought a small crt for a monitor.
Started putting the system back together and everything seemed to work until.... I plugged in the Igniter's Break out Box. Then Whammo- grey screen and forced restart.
Now- before I say goodnight to the Igniter, I thought I'd reach out here in hopes that maybe I'm over looking something. My own suspicions are that the 22" Apple Cinema Display with ADC connector may have a short. For the last three to four years I've gone through about 6 or 7 motherboard batteries. I'd always know they were dead due to the machine advising me to reset the date and time. Then there are the wildcards like an ATTO UL3D controller, a bad main HD (which I reformat every year as a matter of maintenance), or the Igniter and daughter card itself.
When I was testing last night- I never removed the Igniter card from the PCI slot- just disconnected the BOB. It wasn't until I plugged the BOB back into the Igniter board that I saw another system failure. Having brought the system back to life with the BOB unplugged, I'm now backing up everything to DVD and preparing for the jump to an AJA. But I hate saying goodbye if I don't have to yet. UG.
Any thoughts on my Igniter BOB possibly causing kernel panics, Anyone? Hello - o - o - o - o - o !!!!!! ha ha. Sure sounds empty in here. Thanks in advance.

And the AJA tribes gathered on the hilltops to surround the Igniter in the valley. And as quick as plugging in a firewire 400 cable,... it was all over just like that.
RIP my little Igniter X. May we see you again one day in a different incarnation.
