Moving over my Pipe Studio on G5
by Edward G Downie on Apr 20, 2007 at 4:51:57 pm

Hi David Battistella how are things going did you go to NAB this year. I am asking two simple question. One is what dual core G5 can I put the PipeStudio in, and two what board for full hd edit would you recomend for the new intel pro mashine Black Magic or AJA. I normaly edit my show using PipeStudio SD and then use Automaticduck to cross over to a Avid Nitross DS for hd conformation. I am now setting up a full FCP HD now I am purchasing a Intel dual core 2.66ghz for just that not the PipeStudio.

Edward,

Without recomending a product I will let you know that when I made the move to HD I did purchase the AJA KONA 2. For the machine you want to put it in I think you should really consider the extra cost of teh Kona 3. I think it will be worth every cent.

As far as moving the Pipe Studio over. I believe the Pipe will fit in any PCI X slot, if the mac has a PCI X slot then the Pipe should work without any problems. Drivers are going to be the bigger issue.

David

Peace and Love :)

All Intel Macs are PCI e only.

Your Pipe card is not usable in them.
