Help upgrading system.
by Chaos Wrangler on Feb 13, 2007 at 4:25:48 am

I am upgrading to FCP 5.1.2 and having problems with playback of the aurora 8 bit uncompressed codec. It worked fine with OS 10.2.8 and FCP 4.1 but there is a flicker on playback through the deck. I have captured everything with this OS (No old footage from old QT) Is anyone using this setup and if so what are your settings for FCP and the Aurora preference pane. I am helping out a friend and I am not familiar with this set up (but that seems to be changing :)
Any help would be appreciated

Check your UPPER and LOWER field settings and make sure they match the preference pane and the sequence set up.

Which is prefered? upper or lower, or do they just need to be the same? I am going to a Beta SP Deck

The very old Aurora 8 bit Codec was Upper field for NTSC (which was unusual)...later, Aurora switched to Aurora 8 bit Extreme, which is lower field first for NTSC (more common among codecs).

Try both and see what happens.
