Forgive my newbie-ness. Recently purchased a used Aurora Igniter card (with composite and s video input/output) for digitization of my old vhs tapes. When I go to capture the video there is a line at the top and bottom of the video, the top is wavy with white streaks and the bottom is just wavy. Anybody have any experience with this? Any info greatly appreciated.

the bottom part being wavy is normal for vhs signal.
when you say line, do you mean black at top and bottom? if so that's normal too.
If you capture some footage and play it back on a normal TV, do you see the described problems? If not don't worry about it as the picture distortion are in an area which is not visible on normal tv's.
if you do see the picture distortions, is getting a bit trickier, and we would need more details about you setup, which input on the Igniter you're using etc.
consumer vhs vtr's do not deliver a very good video signal so there is a natural limit to what you can work with.
hope that helps

It sounds like tracking error on the VHS tape. if you are serious about capturing this material (or you need to capture it well, then it might be wise to rent a PRO SVHS deck.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I guess I will have to accept the fact that old vhs and vcrs have such low limits when it comes to vid quality. Thanks again.
