Upgrading Igniter to monitor HD footage?

Hi all. We're in the process of acquiring an HVX200 and getting both our edit suites retrofitted for HD. Questions...how to retrofit our two Igniter cards to be able to view HD footage from a HVX200 on a FCP timeline? Our Igniters don't currently have SDI ins/outs. Also, what monitors would you recommend? We're looking to spend around $6,000 total for two monitors.

I hate to break the bad news, but there is no way you can view your 720P or 1080i footage from the HVX-200 camera in SD or HD using an Igniter card. I've had to recommend to several companies now shooting with that format to upgrade from Pipe Studio to either a KonaLH or a Kona2. It's sad. We all love our Aurora products, but HD development seems to have ceased quite some time ago. We've still got one room running a PipeStudio, which is still the best SD solution for FCP, but most of us are working in HD now. Or both HD and SD. We were forced to switch to Kona2 a year ago for this very reason. Half our clients are working in HD now.
One possible solution for you might be purchasing the Panasonic 1200a deck ($25,000) and using that as a pass through for the HD/Firewire signal, the deck converts to SD and then you can view on a 16x9 SD monitor like the Sony PVM or BVM series.

Yep. It's sad. Just upgraded to an AJA Kona as well. Couldn't wait any longer for an HD product. First time since 2000 I have not had an Aurora product in my machine.
