IgniterX, FCP5 Tiger external video
by mish on Jun 3, 2005 at 6:32:42 pm

IgniterX (3.5v) w/ component I/O in a Dual 2.5 G5.

Just upgraded to Tiger (10.4.1) & FCP5, QT 7.0.1, installed the new igniter drivers (6.4.2). MJPEG external video works fine, but I can't scrub picture. UC external video works when disabling FCP5 uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 in the effect handling tab, can't scrub picture, stopping or pausing I lose picture on the NTSC monitor. See effect handling tab pic: http://www.thinkmediaonline.com/gm/igniterx_fcp5.jpg

Where did all the Igniter RT effects go like 3-way color correction? I have to render everything (UC and MJPEG) now. I don't see any IgniterX options or codecs listed in effect handling tab?

Anyone else with this problem, any suggestions?

One note. External video with the Igniter X works fine with After Effects 6.5 and Motion 2 under Tiger on this machine. I have Panther and FCP4 on another volume where external video and RT effects work fine.

thanks

greg

It looks like the "IgniterX FCP Enabler" file isn't being recognized. Can you verify that it is present in:
/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins
If so, verify that no other enablers are present. You might need to do an uninstall, or a repair disk permissions.

The "Effect Handling" Tab should be set to use Final Cut Pro to handle Uncompressed codecs, and IgniterX to handle MJPEG-A.

The RT 3-way color correction in MJPEG-A broke in either FCP 4.5 or 5.0, we're not sure what we would need to change for that, but it is not high on our priority list at the moment.

Thanks as always for the fast response.

It was the "IgniterX FCP Enabler." The problem was a conflict with other items in the system "plugins" folder, once I removed the Automatic Duck components and restarted FCP5, I was able to see the Igniter X in the effects handling tab. That did it! I ended up placing all the Automatic Duck components in my user plugins folder and now everything seems to work.

Here is a pic of the offending plug-ins for your reference: http://www.thinkmediaonline.com/gm/conflicts.jpg

thanks again

greg

Not only is the Automatic Duck plug-in wreaking havoc with FCP but so are the Divx codecs. If anyone has these in their QuickTime folder they should remove them immediately. The Auto-Duck problem has been talked about on the Cow FCP forum at length. These are FCP related issues and not Aurora issues, but they affect us all. If anyone finds any other system type issues with the transition to FCP 5 and Tiger please speak up.

Hi Greg

Did you also sort out the scrubbing issue?

Thanks

Sorry I have been away for a couple weeks.

No, I have not figured out why the scrub does not work with mjpeg. Any ideas?
