General Error Message

This just started this morning--when I try to render, I get a General Error message that pops up. I've restarted, rebooted, even turned the computer off and let it sit for a few minutes. Running FCP 5.1.4 and OS X 10.4.10 Help!

How about trashing your preferences? Users > [yourusername] > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist AND Users > [yourusername] > Library > Preferences > Final Cut Pro User Data > [all the files] but NOT THE FOLDERS!
