I'm going to upgrade to a Mac Pro from my Power PC, G-5. As the G-5 is PCI X, I'm going to have to replace the Fiber Channel Card. I can save $200 by going with a 2Gb, dual channel over the 4Gb dual channel. I'm using an XServe RAID I purchased in 2004, populated with seven 250 GB drives in a single side. Does anyone know if I'll benefit from an extra 2Gb of throughput in my application. I'm editing DV, Uncompressed SD, HDV, and ProRes 422.

OK
No it will not make your current array any faster.
Think about the future- yes your current array is only 2GB/s now but the the card at 4GB/s will support your current array and anything that you may add in the future.
I say spend the $200 now to save you a second "new" card later.
