FCP Scope Different than Digital scope
by Jeff Griswold on Aug 5, 2008 at 4:51:32 pm

We have a new apple 8Qd with FCP 6.0.4, using a kona 3 and working with HDV footage at ProRes 422 all SDI. During color correction I noticed that the scope on fcp doesn't match the digital scope in our machine room. FCP says the video is broadcast safe, but the digital scope says that it is still too hot. Has someone else had this issue?

Jeff

The scopes in FCP are accurate to approx. 2% from what we've seen here. Is this a drastic difference or a slight difference? Slight difference is normal, drastic difference is not.

Also, what are you feeding to the scopes? SDI, Component or Composite?

Jeff, if you do as walter suggests (leave about 2% more adjusted than the fcp scopes indicate) you'll do just fine.
