capturing old iMac
by Josh Snider (eggohead) on Jul 30, 2008 at 10:44:36 pm

I'm having trouble capturing video on my iMac G4, 860MHz processor. It stalls or freezes every time.
I used to capture video on this machine all the time, and while I had some troubles with FCP 3, when I switched to FCP 4.5, I never had problems. I use FCP 6 now on my laptop, but it would be nice to use this old iMac for capturing, while I work on my laptop.
I tried capturing through Toast as well, but the footage freezes for a second every 10 seconds or so. Capturing through Quicktime was disastrous, and iMovie didn't seem to recognize my camera.

I'm going to try re-installing the OS, and change it from 10.3 to 10.4. Does anyone have any ideas as to the problem?

Josh

How full it your hard drive? Drives slow down as they fill up.

What version of FCP are you using now?

Have you deselected "Play though high-quality video" (or something like that) in the capture preset of your setting?
