If you're in an interlaced timeline, it's going to interlace.

Are you doing the move using he Motion tab when using the Boris plug?

If not, use the filter itself and keep the motion tab center value set to 0,0.

Then use the cross hairs in the Boris plug to move the text. It will stay vector based and should render a bit cleaner.

If that doesn't work, try putting your scroll in a progressive timeline, render, export as self-contained and bring it back in to the interlace frame.

Do your scroll in AE for best results (maybe Motion, but your mileage may vary).

Thks for all the suggestions, I am using the Boris scroll generator....so its at 0,0 and Im not animating the move, the generator is...let me clarify, the interlacing I fixed, its just stuttering now in my computer or when it plays as a QT file, but on the NTSC it looks smooth and nice....it might just be to quick a scroll? I dunno...Ill keep playing.....thks for the response...

[Paul Harb] "on the NTSC it looks smooth and nice.."
If it looks well in an interlaced monitor then is OK.
You don't have to worry how it looks in your Mac.
if you want to make it look well in a computer, make a progressive version.
In QT you can try setting "Dinterlaced ' in the Clip Properties (Comm-J)> Video Track> Visual setting.

[Paul Harb] "the interlacing I fixed, its just stuttering now in my computer or when it plays as a QT file"

How'd you fix it?

When you say QT file, is it an encoded QT file for the web or is it the full rez QT file out of FCP?

Calm down, the time stamp on your post is almost 10 pm, you post again wondering why nobody has responded only 1 hour later.

Most of the traffic on here comes during the day during normal working hours.

Hey Zane,

If you work in post production as a PROFESSION, you might just be working at 10pm....so maybe you should settle down.....I have been using cow since its inception and have gotten answers at all kinds of crazy times in the evening....you never know....most of us work late hours....maybe not you....hmmm I wonder....anyways.....I actually did get some great suggestions before you decided to come on here with nothing but showing us how smart you are.....

Paul, I NEVER said that people don't come here at night I just said that most traffic is during the day.

Maybe its me but i just think it is tacky to ask a question online and then one hour later post again in a manner that seems like complaining because nobody has come to your beckoning call yet.

Thats funny, I was thinking how tacky it is and how you must have nothing to do, to come on a board at 10pm to respond to a post no help at all, but only to give you opinion on tact......stop while your behind....opinions are like, well you know the rest.....go get a job....

[Paul Harb] ".stop while your behind....opinions are like, well you know the rest.....go get a job.... "

Comments like that actually put you well behind. Personal snipes never get you anywhere or earn you any personal points from me or on this forum.

Zane had a very good point. You posted at 11:58 pm eastern time for help. A little over one hour later you posted again. We are all volunteers on this forum and not at anyone's beck and call. If someone was on the forums who had an answer for you in those 70 minutes, they would have posted. Obviously nobody had the answer you needed at that hour.

If you want tech support guaranteed in 70 minutes or less I would suggest you invest in an Apple Pro Care plan.

Re: ANYONE? Im dying here
by Paul Harb on Jul 24, 2008 at 2:21:40 am

Hey Walter, sorry you decided to get involved with this one.....I have used your advice for years and your a great asset to this board....however your dead wrong on this one.....first of all my snotty comment was in response to his taking the time to chew me out, about posting at 10pm and expecting a response, which I did get by the way, as I always have used The Cow at all hours of the night and gotten tons of help out of late night situations....

As far as getting behind....well.....I think Im doing ok....

I found it ironic that someone would post late at night to bitch at someone for posting late at night....whats the point....thats why my response the next time was snotty...

If he was responding to the way I capitalized my text the second time around....wow....I was just seeing if I could get someones attention who might have been browsing late at night and wouldnt have seen it otherwise and MAYBE they might be inclined to stop in and help....and guess what....THAT HAPPENED......

So when you say Walter....that he has a good point.....I would have to say I disagree....

that said this is all obviously a misunderstanding and I wasnt heated or anything when I posted that, I was being strategic in getting someone to see it.....hopefully you get that...seems like some other people sure did.....but hey, we all have opinions....

Paul I NEVER said you should not post at night. if you read my post I said that you should NOT complain because you have not been given the help as quick as you think you should be given it.

That is ALL.

Your attitude came across very selfish. Think about it by posting again an hour later and basically saying hey where is everybody I need some help, it really makes you look as if all you cared about is your self.

I do not want to get into a fight here, I am just trying to point out that the way you dealt with it can reflect poorly.

Well thats where the misunderstanding is, and why I responded nasty to you....I wasnt upset at all...I was trying to do what I have done a million times before late at night in a crunch to get someones attention...if you took it as I was complaining, Im not sure what to say.....who posts on a board to complain about the board???!!!! I dont have time for that kind of stuff, so i think you just took my post the wrong way......I dont think we need to police everyone here and teach people how to use a public board....but thats just my opinion, and opinions are like...well you know the rest...

Assuming you're using the Boris Title Crawl, make sure the DeFlicker is activated on the plug-in. Never use FCP's Motion tabs to create the motion.

Paul.
What you see on the computer monitor is not reality for you (interlace articfacts). If it looks OK in the video monitor, then it is fine for output to tape or DVD. If it is web video you are after, merely deinterlace the video when compressing for the web.

IMHO, it has nothing to do with changing fonts and has everything to do with understanding how graphics work in television. Seeing interlace artifacts on your computer and not seeing them on your video monitor is perfectly normal.

Hey Kevin,

Ya, I know, thats why I was so stumped.....it looked great on my NTSC, and interlaced on my computer, fine, the video is for web....I did do a deinterlace, and it worked except the scroll was really jumpy and hard to read, I ended up slowing it down quite a bit, as well as changing the font and that seemed to help.....thks for the response....
