Problems with Extend Edit and Dissolves

I'm sick of this one. If I try to use the extend edit command (E) on a clip that has a dissolve, it changes the dissolve to be just one frame instead of keeping it the length that it was originally.
I spend so much time adjusting dissolves that I like when I have to extend the end of the clip for some reason. It's driving me crazy.
If I just choose end of the clip and type in a number, it will extend it with out change the dissolve so I know that it can be done.

That's because by rolling the edit you've moved the edit point to where there is not sufficient handles to create the overlap. You might be able to keep the transition by changing the transition alignment to start or end on edit.

It works for me. With video and with a slug.

So after playing with it some more on other systems, it turns out that only the edit systems that are connected to our SAN are having the problem. My laptop is fine. So where do I go from here?

I don't see why connecting it to a SAN would have a problem for slug, which is internal to the project file. Unless the project file is in a SAN. Are you using FC Server? Does the problem occur with the roll tool?
