HDV Capturing/Logging/Digitizing in FCP 5.0.1
by Chip Douglas on Jul 22, 2008 at 5:08:33 pm

I recently upgraded FCP from 4.5-5.0 in order to edit HDV footage. When I am capturing a clip with one or more camera stops it creates a new file in my scratch disk folder and clip window. For example while capturing 1 minute of footage with two camera stops I will have three separate files in my clip window with the same title (ex. clip clip_1 clip_2)

While browsing the COW I found Van Bavel's problem(http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/996907#996907) to be similar to my problem. However, I too can't find the box to de-select in the Capture window.

FCP A/V Settings
Sequence preset-HDV-1080i50
Capture preset-HDV
Device Control-HDV Firewire

Logging using HV20 on a powerbookG4 with 1.5ghz and 768mb (I know this is not enough for HD editing...more is on the way) and FCP 5.0.1

Hope this makes sense...this is my first time working with HD footage and posting on the COW...Thanks

Keep it Real and Thanks

I'm not sure, but I think the setting you're looking for is under User Preferences on the right hand side about mid-way down is "On timecode break:" and there is a pulldown menu. Change it to "Warn after capture"

Also, if this is a continuing problem, have the cameramen change from time of day code to continuos code.

Thanks for the response, unfortunately, the problem still persists. I tried putting it on abort capture as well and still had the problem.
