AVCHD or HDV to supplement DVCProHD content in FCP?

Can FCP v.6.0.3 edit AVCHD shot on a canon HD Flash memory Camera like this?

The Canon HF100 looks like a good tapeless, flash memory,
high-definition camcorder

I could also steer my client who will be giving me footage to edit from a microscope shot with either of these two cameras to get a tape based HDV solution. like this below

The Canon HV30 seems like a good, tape-based, high definition (and
standard definition) camcorder.

Which is easiest to edit into projects I primarily shooting to DVCProHD on P2 cards and editing on my mac g4 powerbook with FCP 6.0.3?

Not all AVCHD is created equal. It seems some of it works and some doesn't.

Also, avchd gets transcoded to ProRes. That's something that won't get played back very easily at all on your g4 powerbook.

In the Help menu of FCP, check out the "HD and Broadcast formats" article. There's a section on AVCHD. I have never worked with avchd, I am just basing this info on posts here at the cow.

I do know that HD Prores won't work on your g4.

Jeremy
