Hello,
Editing a project shot on Mini-DV NTSC; Trying to use a G4 Dual Processor as a second machine (have an 8-core for more advanced tasks). Trying to install Final Cut Studio 2 on the G4 1.42 GHZ Dual, OS 10.4.11 with 2GB RAM and a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Graphics card, and lots of room on the drives.
On inspection, the installer says: "The installed graphics card does not support the Open GL features recommended by Final Cut Studio installer." (hardware listed detailed below.) It goes ahead and installs anyway, but crashes instantly when I open it.
Any ideas? Does anyone know what kind of AGP card that will work in this G4 that will satisfy the installer?
Many thanks
Bruce S.

The system requirements are 10.4.9 and QT 7.6.xxx

Hi,
Dangit! Installed 10.4.9 and QT 7.1.6, but got the same result; "errors during install, please try again." Then when I try again the installer quits unexpectedly.

You need an ATI Radeon 9700 or better graphics card or it won't run at all. I was patient zero with this issue with Apple and they've since updated the requirements page on their web site. I eventually found a ATI Radeon 9800 pro to remedy this.

[Bruce Stubblefield]"Many thanks, Warren. Now for a stupid question. Do I have to get a Mac-specific Radeon, or will any AGP 9700 or better work in the G4?"
No stupid questions, just dumb looks. Seriously, you need a Mac Edition. Try MacSales.com.
