FCP Multiclip Editing
by Richard Lee on Jul 4, 2008 at 11:28:41 pm

Hi

I have a FCp project with three cameras. I am syncing them marking an 'in point' on each clip and using FCP's multiclip feature.

However, I recorded these with split tracks - i.e. 6 audio sources from different mics spread across the three cameras. How do I get all these on my timeline?

I have manually copied them into the timeline but I am constantly told it's all out of sync when it isn't!

Surely there's gotta be an easier way!

Cheers

Richard

Perhaps there is. Read the post at the link below and tell me if this workflow is something that works for you.

HI Don

Thanks for that - that's what I've done and yet the video and audio all show out of sync.

Cheers

[Richard Lee] "that's what I've done and yet the video and audio all show out of sync."

That was happening to me too until I stopped deleting the multiclip audio from the timeline and just muted it instead. Also make sure that even though the multiclip audio is muted it has to remain linked to the multiclip video track so that it also gets cut when you change angles, otherwise you'll get instant out-of-sync flags on each cut.

Hi Don

Done that and still having a nightmare with sync marks everywhere - each cut has a different sync value depeding on which cam it cuts too!

Are the out of sync flags on all tracks or just some of them? if only some, which ones?

Hi Don

They appear on the main video track and the muted sync audio from the multiclip track!

Cheers

Can you contact me by email please? I want to send you a screen grab of my multiclip timeline and a setup guide so we can get this sorted out for you.
