FCP Codec Issue?
by Rebecca Bolde on Jul 2, 2008 at 8:04:02 pm

I received footage that I believe was captured with FCE. On my mac (10.4.11) the video is blank, only the audio is fine (I'm using FCP, 5.1.4) Its the same issue when I play it with quicktime 7.5.

Footage is HD (1440x1080), with Apple Intermediate Codec, Integer (Big Endian)

Any ideas what I can do?
If more info is needed, please let me know.

Thanks,
Becca

You need the Apple Intermediate Codec installed on your machine.

Thanks for your response,

It seems I already have it, under Library:Quicktime I see the Apple Intermediate Codec.component.

It must not be the same codec as whatever they captured to.

The AIC I have on my machine is 1.1, I believe its the latest version. I tried installing an update, but it says a version of AIC that requires updating wasn't found. Most peculiar.

Unfortunately, I can't find out what they captured to since they are away for a few weeks and I need to get crackin' on this footage. Is there anything else I can try?

I really appreciate the feedback, thanks.

I just looked and have v1.2. Perhaps that's it?

I installed iLife '08, which has the codec I need. Works great now.
Thanks for all your help!
