GSATA Set up for FCP

I just bought a new 1TB GSATA drive. In setting it up would I be better off setting it up as a raid? If so should it be mirrored or striped, or should I just hit erase in Disk utility and format it? How do you decide which way to go? I'd like to be able to use as much space as possible. Thanks.

This question about how to set up a drive is asked on almost a daily basis so in the future, you can do a search for RAID, SATA, etc... to find an answer more quickly.
RAID 0 is the fastest, but no protection.
If the unit offers RAID 5 I would recommend that.
Mirrored is a waste of space and very slow.

[David Roth Weiss]"That unit does have two 500Gb drives, so it can be raided at raid-0, but I seriously doubt raid-5 that Walter threw into the mix is an option."
Not with only 2 drives. Would probably need a minimum of 3 though 5 is more likely.

[Arnie Schlissel]"So, what you're saying is that I actually need to read these posts before I respond to them?"
You and Walter and can just think of me as you would a remora, you know, one of sucker fish you see hanging with sharks. I'm just clinging on for dear life and cleaning-up the bits and pieces of your existence.
