checked shirts or fine lines on Video
by Michael Lennox on Jul 1, 2008 at 12:26:25 am

Hey

I'm editing some interview footage on final cut pro. The interviewee is wearing a checked blue shirt with fine lines. Whenever I compress the video for the web, the lines on his shirt start to come alive and move back and forward across screen

Is there anything I can do or any filter out there to combat this problem?

[Shane Ross] "Verticle."

Is that like reticle, but not? ;)

A proper deinterlace will take care of this as well as an alternative to blur.

You'd be surprised how often, even seasoned pro actors/producers, allow this to happen.
