this may not be the right forum but I'm trying to connect my new macbook pro to a new sharp projector via a DVI-D. It recognizes it automatically but turns my desktop to a different background and turns it a red color. then when i play my video back over the projector it has a red tint as well. good quality though. Just red. what could be the problem?

Probably a bad DVI cable.
connecting a second display to your Pro is a no-brainer and should present no issues at all. You may want to explore the Help system for multiple displays, though. You seem to have your system set for mirroring, try spanning instead. If that still turns both displays red, it's got to be the cable or you have a serious output card issue that may require returning your Mac..
You want two things to make some tests: Another monitor and a fresh cable that you KNOW is good.

thanks for the reply. I just checked with a cable that I know is good and a monitor that i know is good. It worked fine on that. I tried the good cable on the projector and it has the same problem. So i guess its the projector and not the computer. I've tried changing settings but nothing seems to work.
