OK so just about to look at getting FCP 6, but need to know if it is capable of doing one thing!
I'd like to be able to put myself into a scene of a movie. Not as a still but as a moving and interactive character. Know what I mean???
So can it be done and what this process is called so I can investigate it further?

[Matte Blume]"But the whole secret to making it WORK is knowing how to SHOOT it correctly."
And in the correct format. Lighting is the key along with shooting in an uncompressed format wherever possible.
I'm pretty sure Aharon Rabinowitz has green screen type of tutorial here on the Cow for After Effects. You can pretty much apply the same theory to FCP using the Color Key.

If you need to do anything more complicated than simply pasting yourself over existing video (i.e. if you want objects to pass in front of you), you'll need a good compositing application for rotoscoping.
Final Cut Studio 2 includes Motion, which does have roto tools, but it's not up to the level of something like Combustion or After Effects.

Ok so FCP will do a simple cut and paste and interact. ie, weather presenting stuff. But to have objects pass in front of you is beyond it's reach a little. Do you know if you can get after affects to run on IMAC. Because that's the setup I am looking at getting.
Unless of course someone can tell me why it's a better idea to go with a PC? For this type of video editing....anyone?
