In AVID, when you place markers (or "locators" as Avid calls them), and you then edit the clip with the locator into a sequence, the locator shows up on the sequence and when you stand on the frame in the sequence in which the marker is at, you will see - at the bottom of the recorder monitor - the locator information.
In FCP, when I edit the clip with the marker into a sequence, I can see the marker on the clip in the sequence, but I cannot see what it says on the marker.
Is there a way to make it behave a bit more politely and show me the marker? :)

Nope.
If you have the pink markers in clips, and want to see what they say, you have to 1) highlight the clip, 2) be on the marker, 3) press "m" to get the marker dialog box open.
Putting green markers on your timeline is the only way to see them overlaid on the video. But then, of course, those don't travel with your clips when you edit.
It's the little things AVID got right.... many years ago :)
