System Drive Partion Size
by Nate Stephens (Nate) on Jun 23, 2008 at 9:47:12 am

Here is a puzzle worth a vote... This week I order the new MacPro and I am going with a 500gb system drive. Which is scary big.. So I am thinking about partioning it into 3 sections, 1) current Leopard, 2) future Leopard, 3) new OS test...

But what is the average size of FCP editors system drive? How big is all the goodies for FCP 2, Adobe CS3, your fav plugins and fav applications???? 100gb just does not sound like enough head room for todays FCP fun... Is 200gb better or 250, or 300.....

I never partition the System Drive. I simply add more drives internally just for the System and Graphics.

Agree. Don't partition your startup drive. HD's are very inexpensive today. When new OS is released, pull your original startup drive and put it on the shelf. Insert a new HD for the next version of Leopard.
