FCP looking for "movie data" for an exported .mov
by Vicky Nelson on Jun 20, 2008 at 2:53:27 pm

I am having a problem with some uncompressed .mov files and wondering if someone knows what caused this problem. They were exported by a previous editor so I can't retrace the steps.

When I open the .mov file I get a message looking for a dialog asking for "movie data" and a sequence render file. Did he not export them as a self contained movie?

I opened a project of his once and found that he had deleted an audio track but it was still playing because it was using an old render file. If he had exported these movies that way would that cause this?

Also, the files freeze quicktime.

Thanks so much!

Just have look how big is the file and you will now if is Ref or Self-contained.
But if is looking for data is a Ref movie.
