Hi, I have photographs larger than 720 x 640. I'd like to use them as their original size, so that I can zoom up and around without it scaling up more than 100%, but FCP automatically resized them to 720x640 when I import into the project. Is there a way around this? I'm a new FCP user; on Avid there is an effect called "Pan and Scan" which lets you externally link to your image so that you can zoom and what not without scaling beyond 100%. This is what I'd like to do in FCP. Thanks,

Tammy

One way is to go into the Motion tab and select the scale as 100%, then you can set keyframes to move the image around.

thanks for the tip, but it looks blurry when i bring the scale up to 100%. the original image size is 4288 x2848, so i would like to be able to zoom in very close without it become distorted.

I create slide shows from jpegs using FCP and I add motion paths (zoom, pan, etc.) to the jpegs with Motion. When I play the DVD on a flatscreen monitor the jpegs that have motion are 'pixelated' particularly in the highlights i.e. I get a very distracting moire pattern as the image moves. Is there any way to get rid of this? I've tried deinterlacing when I compress but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

thanks.

Peter
