Avid "collapse" in FCP?
by Alan Smith on Jun 10, 2008 at 1:51:22 pm

In Avid, if we had several video layers, we could collapse the tracks into a single track. This was beneficial because, for example, instead of adding a dissolve to all six tracks, you could collapse the tracks and add it to one. Is there a similar function in FCP? If so, how do you accomplish this function?

I always called it nesting in Avid. Just like Avid, there's no easy way to un-nest.

[Bret Williams] "Just like Avid, there's no easy way to un-nest."

Hold command while dragging the nest into another timeline will "unnest" it.
