P2 in FCP 6.0.3
by andrew drazek (dolphin666) on May 20, 2008 at 7:51:46 pm

hello. i am curious if P2 footage will work in FCP 6.0.3. i believe there was an issue with quicktime in FCP 6.0.2 and i wanted to make sure that issue had been resolved before upgrading. thanks!!

The issue was with a plugin called FX Factory. Version 1 and 2 interfered with the P2 import function. Either upgrading to FX Factory 2.0.2, or removing the demo version will fix this issue.

That is the only P2 import issue specific to FCP 6.

The issue we had was with P2 clips that were imported with FCP 6.0 and then didn't work in either FCP or QT after we upgraded FCP. The clips would just be white. Once we downgraded back to FCP 6.0, the clips would work again. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense.

Really? I hadn't heard about that one. How did I miss that? I knew that P2 footage imported into FCP 5.0.4 had issues when used with FCP 5.1...but I didn't know about 6.0 and 6.0.2.

Worth a shot. FCP 6.0.3 isn't a bad upgrade...it fixes a lot of bugs.

Sounds like you might have a permissions error. Do you have multiple users on your machine?

If a movie comes up white, that means the DVCPro HD codec has been deleted or moved. Does the audio work when the movies turn white?
