Multiclip Editing Feature
by Chip Hess on May 20, 2008 at 5:37:05 pm

I am working at a client's with 3 camera shoot material, all synched TC.
It's a mock newscast, so cutting back and forth using multiclip would be really nice. They have latest flavor of FCP 6.
I don't have this version at home, so obviously no luck using Help or manual to pick it up.

There used to be a video clip up on Apple website when this was first introduced, I think it was FCP 5 ...? It gave basics pretty clearly. Anybody know of a quick tutorial online - Apple or elsewhere - to run me through a crash course?

Thanks!

You have the Manual...it is in your HELP menu...launches as a PDF file. Look in the section on MULTICLIPPING.

Well,

Unfortunately this is a time issue, I had hoped to get a look today but am not onsite. So no access to manual - :(

Larry Jordan on Lynda.com has a great tutorial, you can go right the chapter on multicam and do screen caps to save as a reference. Well worth the $25/month.

Ken Stone has a decent primer. That's what got me started, and I'm 3/4 done with a four camera edit. I'm amazed that everything's working as advertised. (Knock on wood.)

Hey Chip,

Finishing cutting a feature now with multiclips. One thing to be aware of with multiclips: no subcliping, no markers. Just a good thing to be aware of before you get too far down the line. Other than that it's been a great experience.

Christian
