editing format
by Daniel Ball on May 11, 2008 at 4:04:19 am

i recently shot a film on the hvx200 and brought the footage into FCP in the format used to shoot using the settings DVCPRO HD 720p (frame: 960x720, vid rate: 23.98). that is how the footage exists in my browser. However the settings in my sequence where i built my rough cut were mistakenly set at a custom setting with frame: 720x480 and vid rate: 29.97) don't ask me how, but i did not notice this until now. (it basically looks letterboxed but obviously is much smaller)

how can i get this rough cut sequence back into its original format?

i tried simply changing the sequence settings but it seems it just takes my current picture and stretches it. (also i coudn't change the fps at all). same result when i tried to copy and paste into a new sequence with the proper settings.

and when i tried to drag the rough cut directly into a new sequence with proper settings i got the message "cannot nest sequences with different editing timebases."

thanks all

Open a sequence with the new setting. Select all in your first sequence DRAG AND DROP in the new one.

..and always a big mess on top of the table.
