Optimizing 16:9 720p for YouTube - HELP
by Jake Wheeler (Jakevegas) on Mar 18, 2008 at 11:06:36 pm

Hi,

I shot a project in 720p 16:9 at 23.98. I have to optimize this for youtube and am having a lot of trouble. I am cutting in FCP 6.2 and compressing wth Compressor 3. my issues

1) should I go to 4:3 in FCP? I can pan and scan, but it looks very square here, not rectangular. if so, do I keep my sequence compression at 720p60 as in the clips, and should pixel aspect ratio also go to NTSC?

2) should I output at 16:9 and just tweak in Compressor.

In each case, what would be correct compression settings.

thanks much

Jake

Honestly the best why I have discovered to get video ready for youTube is to pull your edited file into iMovie 08 and use the publish to youTube feature. It does it all for you.

There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems".
Don't let technology get in the way of your creativity!
