Request for owners of new MacPro's with ATI HD 2600 XT -- error msg

I previously posted about this a couple of days ago, but now I have a simple test I'd like others to try.

Please try this test if you have a 2008 Mac Pro with the stock ATI HD 2600 XT graphics card, are running Leopard (preferably 10.5.2) and FCP 6.0.2:

Create a new sequence set to 1920x1080 (HDTV 1080i 16x9), square pixels, 23.98 fps, uncompressed 10 bit. Be sure to set the render settings to 10-bit under video processing (this is critical). Drop a clip with the same specs (10-bit, 1920x1080 uncompressed HD 23.98 -- ProRes clips should also work -- standard def files, i.e. DV clips, will NOT exhibit this issue). Now apply a "Glow" effects filter to the clip from the drop down menu (any filter should work - Bloom, Dazzle, Light Rays, etc.).

I am getting the error message: "The effect 'Bloom' cannot be rendered in a sequence of this size with the current graphics card."

Can anyone else repeat this error? Or is there someone else out there with the same specs but different graphics card who can chime in?

[Contrary to my previous post, Apple tech support did not resolve this. It is not an issue of upgrading from a previous FCP project. I ended the call with the rep before I realized the project had been set to 8-bit, which is why I wasn't seeing the issue. Next time I have a free hour+ during 9-6pm I will call back.]

I have the new MacPro, but I replaced the graphics card with the x1900. Just so you don't think I am ignoring you.

The new cards do work in the new machines, but you have to do something to make them work. You have to install them in an older version macPro (say the April 2007 model) and then update the firmware on the card. This firmware update makes the card recognizable in the new MacPros.

And yes, it works with Color. Color was DESIGNED to work with this card.

I've had a similar problem. I've been running my FCP suite on a quad until I bought an 8Core last month. When I opened a job I onlined on the 4Core (with the ATI1900 card) on my new 8Core I found one or two shots with filters applied (blur) that would not render. I have deducted that the ATI HD 2600's 256mb of video memory is not enough to render the filter which did render with the ATI 1900's 512Mb of video memory.

I'm still looking for a way to upgrade my 8Core without having to resolve to buying a new ATI1900.
