HD, SD, AJA Io, House Sync, and Genlock

I'm in the process of hooking up a new FCP system. This system will feature an AJA Io-HD, along with XDCAM, HDV, and Betacam decks. We also have one of those Horita Black Burst generators.
The AJA Io manual says, "it is best to genlock all equipment to house sync. Usually this means using a black burst generator (standard definition) or Tri-Level sync generator (high definition) output looped through the system."
But my system is both SD and HD. I guess I could provide black burst to SD components, like the Beta deck, and tri-level to HD components like the XDCAM deck. But what about components like monitors, which will display both SD and HD signals? What about the Io, which will feed both HD and SD signals? Will the system work if I loop black burst through the entire system?

As long as you don't work at 23.98, your Horita BSG-50 (not BG-50 !!!) will work just fine for everything you are doing.
Tri level sync becomes critical at 23.98, particularly when mastering back to an HD VTR, but if you are working at 29.97, and 59.94 for HD, your Horita will be just dandy.
You should post AJA questions on the AJA forum.
Never ever send black to the external sync input of your monitors. You are not working with RGBS signals. You never had to do this in the old linear days, and you don't have to do it today.
