I have been volunteered to put together a fundraising piece for a charity of one of my clients. They have given me a couple of CDs worth of .avi files to use. When I import them into FCP (6.0.2, Leopard) they play fine in the viewer, but when dropped into the timeline, they, and here's the fun part, sometimes appear fine, and sometimes appear as a green screen. They always need a render, which is fine. Sometimes the render fixes the green, some times, most times, not. I think they pulled a lot of them from YouTube. My AV setup is DV NTSC 48kHz, as usual. Any ideas?

Take the files into Compressor or MPEG Streamclip and se if you can convert them to a format that will work in FCP.
All the best,
Tom
