What format does FC cature HDV in? Is it usable in the Adobe suite?

It captures it as a native HDV format in a Quicktime wrapper if you choose the HDV Easy Setup. And no, you cannot use this file with any other editing system. You can only use this on a computer with FCP installed, because the QT codec it uses is only installed with FCP.

You can also capture as Apple Intermediate Codec and ProRes ia firewire. But again, only workable in FCP.

If you want it to work with Adobe Premiere...capture with Adobe Premiere.

Nathan,

It will capture it in whatever you want, Firewire can get native HDV, and ProRes, if you have FCP6.0.2, or any flavor of HD with the appropriate capture card or io device.
