I am editing in Final Cut Studio 2. I am having issues printing to video.
Once I begin recording, the video image disappears and the deck only records the audio portion.
I can monitor the timeline on the external deck monitor, but I can't record directly from the timeline or utilize the print to video command. Both methods yield the same result - a tape that includes only the audio portion of my project.
I made the timeline a self-contained Quicktime movie and tried to "edit to tape" and could not get a video image here either.
In the edit to tape and print to video methods, I can see the color bars/slate/countdown and video on the computer screen, but the external monitor only shows a black screen.
Any ideas on how to get past this problem? I need to dump to tape to meet a deadline.
I have the output settings correctly set to Firewire NTSC and have tried exporting with and without the checkbox checked on the "different settings for print to video/edit to tape".

I'm sorry to see you have not gotten a response to this. I was really hoping to see good information here.
We've been struggling with the same issue. We have an AJ-HD 1400P that actually needs to be told what signal it is to receive. We were outputting 720p 24 from our timeline and the deck needed to be told we were sending 720P 24.
I'll let you know if we are successful with the 1080i print to video.
