I'm using FCP 6 and all of a sudden my audio isn't patching through, I have a clip in the viewer with two audio tracks and only the video is patching through to the timeline, anyone encountered this problem before?

hey pam
sorry if its a dumb question, but are you sure you've created the necessary audio tab connections in the patch bay area to the left of the timeline window?

that's the problem, those are the patches that are missing! (I knew I wasn't explaining myself very well!) But the audio is definately there in the clips... I can hear it, and I can see the two audio tabs in the viewer but no A1 or A2 patches in the area you mentioned.

Few things might be happening. Did you open the clip into a new Viewer? The application will only edit from the primary Viewer.
Click on the A1 patch to see if a audio patch appears next to it.
Quit the app and trash the preferences.
All the best,
Tom

Thats funny, I just had this problem for the first time last night. The solution was to create a new sequence and paste the old sequence clips into the new sequence. From then on all clips in the Viewer showed their proper track assignments.
I've been working on FCP since v1 and this was the first time I had seen this pop up. What a coincidence.

One of the guys in the office here managed to fix it by right clicking on the grey audio patch area and clicking 'reset panel'. So there you go! Thanks for the suggestions.
