I need a T-shirt, so now when kids come and ask me
"HEY MR how to I work with this 24p footage I just shot in HDV (see what I did there, double screwed) What am i looking at to get it to work with the 30p footage I got?"
I don't have to punch them to forget there is an hdv and a 24p (it usually doesn't work just and FYI, I'm looking at my 6th film school now.)

The show I am working on right now is shooting 30p on DVCPRO 50. SO it was shot at 30p and we are editing it at 29.97. We deliver a digibeta master, which is 60i...60 interlaced frames. But the "film look" is still there, because both fields are displaying the same frame.

Oh man, Can I relate! See posts about my 24p HDCam nightmare a week or so ago.
Our DP accidently shot 24p, rather than 23.98p. Oops!
It was an interesting edit to say the least. I did figure out a workaround and it looks pretty good when I downconverted.
Yesterday we took delivery of our XDCam HD and there is NO 24p option in the menu...only 23.98. Yay!
Our DP assures me never again 24P on HDCam! Thank you!

We shoot our TV show in DVCProHD 30p, and deliver it in SD 60i format. The 30p absolutely looks better than interlace (it doesn't look like video), and I think motion looks a little smoothr than 24p. For TV, it works pretty well.

Sumfun,
That's some good looking video you're doing--great talent too!! It looks absolutely fantastic on the Web, as 30P should. Do you know of any commonly available network shows shot in 30P? I realize it's kinda new, but I'd like to view broadcast examples.

Tom,
Thanks for the compliments. I'm sure there are plenty of shows shooting 30p, but I don't know which ones. If you email me your address, I can mail you a DVD of our show. The DVD is in 60i format, same as what we deliver for broadcast. sum@hotspotsonline.com.

I think there is complete agreement that for NTSC 30P is great and that for a film out it is unacceptable but how does it look converted to PAL? I just want to be prepared, if our show goes global - thanks?
