Varying codecs in a sequence

Hello everyone. I am running FCP 5.1.4 and have a sequence with DVCPro HD and DV video clip and then I have livetype .ipr files and motion DV/DVCPro-NTSC files in my sequence. My sequence is DV/DVCPro-NTSC.
My blackmagic video card plays it back smooth but when I try to do a quicktime conversion there are parts of it with the video where it is shaky. Is there anything that I can do to smooth out all these different codecs? What is the best sequence to work in?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Lee

With FCP 5.1.4 and earlier, you need to convert everything to a uniform codec and frame rate. If you have DVCPRO HD 23.98 and DV 29.97, and you are working in a DVCPRO HD timline, you'll have to resize and render all the DV footage. And the pulldown removal to get the 29.97 to 23.98 won't be all that great. You'll need to get the Standards Converter plugin from www.nattress.com to smooth this out.
BEST workflow? You need to capture the DV footage as DVCPRO HD. I know that the Kona 3 card can upconvert SD to HD...not sure about the Decklink line..

Hey Shane. Thanks for getting back to me. So it sounds like the best workflow would be to stick with one codec which is what I would prefer to do but unfortunately I am using the Panasonic P2 cards and to get game footage and then getting lots of post game interviews and the P2 cards and store aren't big enough to hold everything.
I attempt a capture this week but I don''t think that Blackmagic supports this type of conversion:(
So right now I am shooting DVCPro HD 720p60 (60 frames a second) and then regular DV 29.97 for interviews. So it sounds like I am going to have to abandon the DVCPro HD codec even though it is much nicer. Or do you have a way that might work in your opinion once I get into FCP? A good sequence?
I appreciate the help.
