yeah I have checked it out and looks promising...

except for the limited output presets, which dont seem
to have a setting for any real video profiles PAL or NTSC...

I need 720X576 or 1024X576 ...? any other ideas...?

Things speed up big time with an 8 core machine, and it's even faster with a cluster... Compressor 3 will just scream on an 8 core. It's faster than real time... if you cluster it it's even faster.

That's probably why there's not much choice out there for accelerators...

We tried the Elgato and didn't find it too impressive (as good as their other products are). When there's lots of motion it tends to get blocky, Compressor is better.

Thanks,

thing is I work on a laptop mainly a 2.16 core duo...maybe I should upgrade to a core 2 duo...Would make a big difference yeah?

Also does compressor 3 show significant encoding speeds over the last version?

I don't think you'd see a dramatic difference upgrading to a slightly faster computer... but I'm seeing compressor 3 REALLY speed up on an 8 core when you setup all 8 processors to work at it in QMaster. .. a LOT faster than a dual.
