Get info on the project file and make sure your permissions are set to read and write.
What kind of drives do you have? What else is connected to your system? Try unhooking the drive and then open your project. If it opens hit cancel and quit (without saving).

[sesammedia]"or maybe a corupt file in the project?
"
That's what I'm thinking.
Get info on your drive (Apple-I) and then change the permission (at the very bottom of the info window) to ignore ownership on the drive and then click the apply to enclosed items. Then try reopening.
Sorry for all the steps, I just like to be thorough in these situations as it could be a multitude of things. The good news, it seems your project is in tact and nothing is missing. You might have to dig for some weird file somewhere, but all is not lost.
Post back when you're done with the permission thing.
If it doesn't work, I'd try rehooking files a little at time and see which one gives you trouble.

Ignore ownership should be checked and then click the apply to enclosed items button.
If that doesn't work, you have a bit of work ahead of you. You should duplicate your project (again), tell FCP to NOT reconnect and then start reconnecting media 5-10 clips at a time. If you are highly organized in terms of bins, you could try connecting bins at a time and in between each reconnect, save and quit. Then reopen your project and the first few clips should now be connected. Then connect the next 5 clips or so (or the next bin) and save then quit. Once you can't open the project anymore, you might get a sense of which clip(s) are corrupt. Track them down on your hard drive and fix them at that point.

OK, first of all thanks alot for all the help.
After many hours of locating files I think I have a solution for the problem. There were many files that had different problems. some were missing, some had similar names exefpt or the ending (exampel: motion projectfile had the same name as the QTfile i used in my FCP proj)
The only thing all of them had incommon was that FCP replaced the files with another file that were close to the same but had some diffrences like length or reelname.
Finnally after locating all these files my project works again ;)
Im a little dissapointed with FCP, I think there is to many diffrences between these files for FCP to mix them up... anyway, thanx again

Good deal. FCP does ned some help in the media management and tracking department. It's best media tracking feature is you. You have to be extremely careful and organized otherwise as you have found out the hard way, FCP can get confused.
Glad you tracked it down and you are up and running.

Whatever you guys say, Jeremy deserves the credit for this, he got me started on tracking the problem down. I just put the hours in. Thanks Jeremy. I might add that this mediaconfusion started with me reinstalling Tiger, do you think that can have a play in this? and if so, why?
Well, I still like FCP the best out of all software I have worked with and thats a few by now.
Take care guys, All power to the cow.
