[Johnny White]"That annoys me... why should I be punished for being a long time, loyal user?
grrrrrr..."
Who cares when you receive a product? It will get to you at some point if you placed an order. I really don't understand why everybody is so worked up about "when will I get it?"
Personally I have three copies on order. We will install it first on our third edit system and run it for a week there before we even THINK about installing it on our main two systems. Don't want to introduce anything into our very stable workflow right now.
So relax, you'll get it when you get it and it'll be your choice whether to throw it right into production or ease it into your workflow.

Because they are excited about the new product and it's new features. There may be a lull in work and they will have the time to play. All due respect Walter, we all don't think like you and your post won't change anyone's enthusiasm for FCS 2. You don't really have to respond to every post.

I didn't say I wasn't enthusiastic about Studio 2, just listen to my first three Podcasts and you'll see how excited I am about the release.
What I'm saying is it really doesn't matter who gets it first, we're all going to get a copy. AND be aware that the first person to install it will also most likely be the first person to discover to discover problems, hence my reasoning for using a "guinea pig" system to start on.

Of course you're right Walter, it won't effect my business in any way at all, I'm currently shooting 5 min dv inserts for tv and it works perfectly as is. In fact it'll just waste my time as I spend hours learning color, motion 3, stp 2 etc.
But I can't help it, it's the kid at Christmas feeling, and I don't really understand it, what's so exciting about computer applications?, I think it's a kind of addiction....Counselling???

[CharlieX]"honestly, FCP 6 doesn't do anything spectacularly more than FCP 5. So fine by me."
Besides a working version of Color, 3D FX in Motion, using the ProRes codec on projects that don't need uncompressed, etc.
(I see where you're coming from though. I'm still going to do some testing before I dive in completely. But I'm not going to wait for three months before I do.)

[Russell Lasson]"Final Cut Studio 2 Retail : 3-5 business days
FCS2 Upgrades: 2-3 weeks."
This is actually really smart of them. It means that "new users" will be the guinea pigs. They'll have a few weeks to sort out any major bugs before "upgrade users" start installing it over a working copy of FCP5.

I've always ordered my upgrades the moment they go on sale. I've never had any problems doing my upgrades with FCP/S since v.1.0. And I've never seen the first release of an FCS upgrade be really buggy enough to be worth mentioning.

And it's not like the current version of FCP doesn't have some weird bugs that we just deal with. FCP6 will have some new ones, but I'm starting a project a week from now that I would love to use ProRes 422 on.

Well this is only the second release of Studio and FCP 5.0 was one of the worst .0 releases of this product line. Too many bugs to mention, especially in HD.

[bbalser]"I never had any problems with 5.0."
Consider yourself lucky. I'll have to go back and a do a search of this forum about the time 5.0 was released so I can re-live all the fun that we had. Those were the days........
