Lost mediafiles
by PerL67 on Apr 19, 2007 at 3:42:30 pm

I have by accident throwed away some of my mediafiles from an external HD.
I have not worked on the HD since the misstake.
Is it possible to find the files or recover them?

No, you must recapture them form the original tapes.

There are several programs on the market for MAC that allow you to undelete files that have been trashed. One that gets a fairly good review is DataRescue at http://www.prosoftengineering.com/products/data_rescue.php?PHPSESSID=d6baec...

Perhaps I posted too quickly, there ARE ways to do this but the effort isn't always worth the result. Or the other way around, too.,

Data Rescue, I have it, will recover files that are completely intact but it cannot replace missing data and media files often do not rebuild at all. Something gets lost.

If these media files have been deleted for more than a few hours and the drives have been used for regular stuff, pieces of the media files will have been overwritten and destroyed.
